I incorporated several elements of the Snow White mythology into this piece, drawing heavily from re-tellings such as Neil Gaiman's, which depict the Snow White character as an undead or vampire-like creature. In this portrait, I emphasized Snow White's unhuman-ness with her doll proportions (enlarged eyes, small nose, enlarged mouth), taking reference from the popular ball jointed doll models, with literal cracks beginning to show in her facade. The dead fish surrounding her, as well as the rotting apple, tie back in to those more recent vampiric portrayals of Snow White as a creature who feeds off the life of those around her.
